Finding the right psychiatric medication can sometimes require trial and error. Mindfully Mended Psychiatry offers GeneSight® Psychotropic testing to help inform medication decisions using information from your DNA.
GeneSight is a simple cheek-swab test that evaluates how certain genetic variations may affect the way your body responds to or metabolizes commonly prescribed mental health medications. The results may help your provider identify medications that could require dose adjustments, carry an increased risk of gene-related side effects, or be less likely to produce the expected response.
GeneSight testing does not diagnose a mental health condition or guarantee that a particular medication will be effective. Instead, the results provide one additional clinical tool that your provider can consider alongside your symptoms, diagnoses, medical history, previous medication experiences, and treatment goals.

Testing may be especially helpful if you:
Have experienced unwanted medication side effects.
Have tried psychiatric medications without adequate improvement.
Take several medications or have questions about medication metabolism.
Would like additional personalized information to support treatment planning.
Ask your Mindfully Mended Psychiatry provider whether GeneSight testing may be appropriate for you. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary by insurance plan.
